OTIS JORDAN

||
Otis Jordan was a native of Georgia who always thought of himself as "handy capable" rather than handicapped. His act was to roll and light a cigarette using only his lips and his tongue (no hands!). For many, many years Otis was semi-exploited by sideshows who billed him as "The Frog Boy". Since Otis was Black and not in any way strangely disformed the Frog Boy Moniker was offensive and also led to the sideshow's hiding the real handsome Otis in the back of the tent, where he could not roam the midway in his motorized wheelchair because people would see he looked nothing like a frog. At Coney Island we changed Otis's stage name to "The Human Cigarette Factory", he worked in Coney Island 1987- 1990. |
